Yasemin Cole is a third-year MD/PhD student at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine (UNCSOM) with the NIH Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program. Before medical school, she completed a Bachelor�s degree in Biology at UNC Chapel Hill and a master�s degree in Genomic Medicine at Imperial College London. She is convinced of the power of genomics to contribute to personalized care. She is currently completing her PhD studies at the NIH and University of Cambridge. Outside of medicine and science, she has a deep commitment to underserved populations, especially refugees, genetics outreach, and undergraduate mentoring. In her free time, she enjoys running, dancing, traveling, and cooking. As a first-generation medical student, she can provide insight into MD/PhD programs, global health, and gap years.
