Ryan Boe is an MD-PhD student studying genetics and epigenetics at the University of Pennsylvania. His research in the lab or Arjun Raj focuses on building quantitative models for how cancer cells respond in the face of multiple signals. Originally from metro Detroit, Ryan graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2015 with a BA in Biochemistry and an MS in Chemistry. He went on to spend two years as a research associate at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, developing CRISPR-Cas9 screens to understand the genetic regulation of mitochondria. As the first person in his family to attend college, Ryan has spent the last 6+ years helping first-generation low-income students apply to college. He is thrilled to bring his personal experience navigating the often-confusing world of higher education to Project SHORT. Outside of school, Ryan enjoys biking, tennis, movies, and spending time with his partner and two cats.
