Megan is from Minnetonka, Minnesota and studied biology and chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis (class of 2013). She began college with the intent of applying to medical school, but fell in love with research studying the malaria parasite in the lab of Dr. Audrey Odom John. She then matriculated to the Duke School of Medicine Medical Scientist Training Program in 2014, and is currently finishing her PhD in the lab of Dr. Hashim Al-Hashimi. Her research aims to understand the principles of RNA-drug binding specificity and to use experimental and computational tools to develop RNA-targeted antimicrobial drugs. Megan loves dancing, photography, taking care of her many house plants, and is excited to support others moving through the application progress to the next phase of their careers!
