Marci grew up in San Diego, California, and attended UCLA for college, where she majored in neuroscience. After spending a year as a postbac at the NIH, Marci matriculated into UCSF's MD-PhD program, where she is currently a graduate student in Anna Molofsky's lab. Her research focuses on the extrinsic factors that modulate the maturation of glial cells, particularly astrocytes, during development. More broadly, she is interested in how early life experiences affect neural circuitry. When not in lab, Marci enjoys biking, reading, and baking. She received lots of helpful advice and guidance from older MSTP students and physician-scientist faculty when she was applying, and is delighted to be able to pay it forward.
