Kimberly Rich is a medical student at the University of Queensland Ochsner Clinical School’s class of 2022. The program provides students with the unique opportunity to attend school in Australia for two years followed by clinical rotations at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. She is originally from Virginia Beach, VA and attended Boston College for undergrad. Kimberly was on the varsity swimming team and a part of the pre-medical program there and received her BA in Sociology in 2015. After graduation, Kimberly stayed in Boston and worked as a research assistant in cardiac surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital from 2015-2018 focusing on tissue engineering for congenital heart defects. She received her MS in Medical Sciences through Boston University’s MAMS program in 2018. Kimberly’s road to medical school was not as direct as some and hopes to provide some guidance and help to those on their own medical journeys. She values having well-rounded experiences and is passionate about community health as well as research. She is interested in pediatrics and cardiology after medical school. Outside of medicine Kimberly enjoys running and cooking, or you can find her at the nearest beach!
