Brian is a first-year MD/Ph.D. student (starting Fall 2023) at Washington University in St. Louis. Wanting to leave his hometown of Sunnyvale, California, Brian also went to college at WashU, putting him at risk of becoming a WashU-lifer and liking Imo's if he’s not careful. As a physician-scientist, Brian hopes to design biophotonics devices that investigate the pathogenesis of incurable ailments (e.g. Alzheimer's, ALS, HSV) and translate the findings into new clinical interventions and pharmaceuticals. When he's not playing with microscopes or writing code, you can catch Brian playing table tennis, keeping up with flight sim news, or running in Forest Park. Brian attributes his achievements to mentors in his life who encouraged his academic and personal growth and eventual pursuit of dual-degree training. He hopes he can pay it forward and is happy to support anyone navigating any stage of the pre-med journey.
