Ye Jun "Jay" Kim is a 3rd year PhD student in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program at University of Maryland School of Medicine. His start in science began at his undergraduate institution, Wesleyan University, studying the role of histone proteins in regulating yeast chromatin structure and repair. Now he has found his passion for cancer biology, investigating novel antileukemic molecular mechanisms of small molecules and identifying new targets for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) drug discovery. Jay strives to make higher education more accessible for the next generation and loves to meet and help new students along their scientific careers. Outside of biology, Jay enjoys all things outdoors, tattooing, running, and indie/punk music!
