Vivian is a first year PhD student in the Program of Biomedical Sciences-Bioinformatics program at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She was awarded a Rackham Merit Fellowship from Rackham Graduate School. Vivian graduated from Benedictine University with a Bachelors in Health Science and from Rush University with a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences where she conducted research in gut/nasal microbiome and Parkinson’s disease. She has worked in academia as a laboratory technician at the Center for Integrated Microbiome and Chronobiology research at Rush University. She has also worked at Tempus Labs, a biotech company, as a quality control technician. Apart from her roles in research, Vivian has also participated in numerous leadership opportunities including Scientist Mentoring Diversity Program (SMDP), Chicago Gun Violence Research Collaborative Fellowship (CGVRC), and UIC COVID Relief team for at Pacific Gardens Mission homeless shelter. Vivian is interested in furthering her knowledge in the Bioinformatics field, where she can participate in translational research. Outside of science, Vivian enjoys spending time reading book and spending time outdoors, preferably hiking or on a standup paddle board.
