Titir is a third-year PhD student in Biology at New York University. She did her Bachelors and Masters in Biology from Presidency University in Kolkata, India, where she specialised in molecular biology and biochemistry. During her Masters, she was awarded the Indo-US Khorana scholarship to do a summer research project at Yale University, where she worked on bacterial nanowires. Her PhD research is focussed on the genetics of evolution in yeast, specifically on adaptive evolution through copy number variation under different environmental pressures. Her hobbies include classic English literature, painting and world cinema.
