Taylor M. Miller-Ensminger was born in Mobile, Alabama. She was raised outside of Chicago, in Barrington, Illinois. From a young age, she was fascinated by science and was particularly interested in viruses. She attended Loyola University Chicago for her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor’s of Science; she majored in Bioinformatics. Here, she joined the Putonti Lab and remained there for five years, exploring the bacteria and phage of the female urinary microbiome. During this time, she was awarded the NSF GRFP to aid in the completion of her graduate studies. She was awarded her Master’s of Science Degree, also in Bioinformatics, in Summer 2021. She moved to Philadelphia to attend the University of Pennsylvania and pursue a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology. At UPenn, Taylor is a member of the Jurado lab, focusing on the innate immune response and immune system development in the context of Zika virus infection.
