Skylar Hou is an Anthropology and Education Ph.D. student at Teachers College, Columbia University. Their work and research focus on anti-oppression education and decolonization in language education. Before grad school, Skylar graduated from Mount Holyoke College (class of 2022 - red pegasus!) with a double-major in Psychology & Education and French. Their undergrad studies focused on diversity and accessibilities in education settings, where they did their honor thesis on the experiences of dyslexic students in China. Outside of research, they are an aspiring polyglot: they are currently fluent in English, French, Mandarin Chinese, and Tibetan. They are also a certified snowboarder for 10+ years, an artist, and an advocate for feminism and the human rights movement in East Asia.
