Sierra is a third year PhD student in the Department of Genetics at Stanford University. She received her B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Michigan in 2019. In 2021, Sierra joined the Bhatt lab, which studies the human gut microbiome. Her work focuses on the role of small RNAs and proteins in microbial pathogens. Outside of the lab, Sierra enjoys trail running and skiing. She also serves on committees for student admissions and recruitment for Stanford Genetics.
