Sarah Izabel is an incoming graduate student in the Neurosciences program at Stanford University. She has investigated neurological and inflammatory insults to the brain in hopes of uncovering mechanisms of neurological disorders. Now, Sarah is focused on using her skills in cellular biology to uncover mechanisms of neuropsychiatric disorders. Her passion for studying the brain stems from a curiosity in understanding how disorders develop and how we can improve the lives of people with neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. Inspired by her struggles during undergrad, Sarah started advocating for the end poverty in the US and the world. She joined RESULTS, a grassroots organization, in October of 2020 and has since made great strides! She is now the leader of the Metro MD group, a 2022 RESULTS Fellow, and an Experts on Poverty. Sarah graduated from VCU in 2020 earning degrees in Biology and Psychology. Sarah is a Multiracial Latina in science, single mother, and anti-poverty advocate.
