Roseanne is a proud Puerto Rican PhD Candidate in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at the University of Pennsylvania. She obtained her BS from the University of Puerto Rico- Aguadilla Campus with a Major in Biology, emphasis in Biomedical Sciences. During college, Roseanne conducted research in her institution as a Puerto Rico-Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation fellow and had the opportunity to join the summer internship Short-Term Research Experience for Underrepresented Persons funded by National Institutes of Health (NIH) at Baylor College of Medicine. After college, she was accepted to the NIH-Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program at the University of Georgia. Then, she started her PhD following her interest in understanding the role of protein misfolding in neurodegeneration. As a first-generation college student and graduate student, Roseanne is committed to increase the diversity in STEM and promote opportunities to students from disadvantaged backgrounds and minority groups. Her interests are dogs, traveling, road-trips, knowing new places, having new experiences, dancing, and trying different types of food. She also has a great appreciation for different types of art, although her personal favorites are photography and painting.
