Katharine, who usually goes by Rinnie (she/her), is a PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania in the Cell and Molecular Biology graduate program, specifically in microbiology. As an undergraduate, she studied biology at Brown University and worked in a lab studying the effect of diet and antibiotics on the gut microbiome. At Penn, she is currently investigating the interface of the host, gut microbiota, and the intestinal pathogen C. difficile. Rinnie identifies as LGBTQ+, and is excited to help the next generation of scientists navigate getting to graduate school. Outside of the lab, she can be found reading in the park, biking, or trying out new crafts.
