Randall Eck is a PhD student in the Neuroscience program at the University of Washington. He graduated with a B.S. in Neuroscience & Cognitive Science and B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arizona in 2020. His research interests include the study of RNA metabolism, glia-neuron interactions, and phase separation in the context of age-related neurodegenerative diseases. Working in the lab of Dr. Brian Kraemer, he researches the neurobiology of tauopathies, including Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia, using C. elegans and cell culture. Outside the lab, he enjoys hiking the Pacific Northwest, reading the news, baking sourdough pizza, and mentoring future generations of scientists.
