She/her/hers

Monique is a second year Neuroscience PhD student at UCSF. She is a first generation college student who grew up in rural Maine and attended Bowdoin College (a small liberal arts school). There she researched dendritic-injury-response in adult crickets. After college she worked at Boston Children’s studying protein localization in the neurons of C. elegans. Now, Monique researches the role of glial cells in the developing nervous system. Monique cares about science access at all levels and volunteers as a representative for graduate student needs as well as a science educator for elementary aged kids. Monique is excited to work with grad school applicants and hopes to ease some of the stress the process induces!
