Maya Hopkins is a first year Neuroscience PhD student at NYU. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biological Basis of Behavior at the University of Pennsylvania in 2017 and worked as a research technician at Rockefeller for 2 years after graduation. She is interested in the molecular and systems level mechanisms underlying long term memory. Specifically how memories are maintained and how these mechanisms can be enhanced or inhibited to treat disorders such as Alzheimer's and PTSD. She is the volunteer and social media coordinator for NYU's outreach club (NOGN) and hopes to make neuroscience more accessible for elementary students to undergrads. Outside of the lab she enjoys yoga, ballet, making cocktails, and thrifting furniture. She is excited to help make the grad school application process less daunting and more manageable!
