Maria Luisa is a first year Postdoctoral fellow at NYU. Her research focuses on cerebrovascular amyloidosis and Alzheimer’s disease. She earned a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2021 from the University of Georgia (Athens, GA) where she studied the role of vitamin B1 insufficiency in Alzheimer’s disease. During her PhD she was also a Teaching Assistant for different pharmacy classes. From 2015 to 2017, she worked as Research Assistant at Augusta University (Augusta, GA). Before moving to the US, Maria Luisa completed her BS and MS in Biotechnology at the University of Bari in Italy. As the first person in her family to pursue a PhD abroad, she is aware of how challenging the process can be for International students and she looks forward to helping new students!
