Kosta is a first-generation student in the Graduate Program in Biostatistics in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He is interested in developing statistical methods for cancer data science, specifically nonparametric and learning methods in the context of precision medicine and cancer prognosis; he is currently conducting similar research at Penn and at the Wistar Institute. Kosta obtained his B.A. in Mathematics with a minor in Statistics from Penn, during which he conducted research in cancer genomics at the Department of Cancer Biology. He also completed a NSF-REU at Tufts University, researching numerical methods for inverse problems in mathematical tomography. He hopes to promote accessibility for underrepresented first-generation students interested in applied mathematics and biostatistics.
