Katie is a PhD student in Clinical Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research interests include understanding the neural and psychological mechanisms of decision-making in clinical disorders such as schizophrenia, PTSD, and psychopathy, as well as studying racial inequalities in prison and increasing access to mental health care for incarcerated individuals. She received her bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Psychology from Virginia Tech in 2018, where she worked in multiple labs studying topics in developmental psychology and molecular neuroscience. After college, she worked as a research technician at Washington University in St. Louis studying motivation and reward in individuals with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression. Katie grew up outside of Washington D.C. but is of Native Hawaiian descent and would love to help anyone in the process of applying to graduate school.
