Katie James is a first-year PhD student in the Neuroscience Graduate Program at Emory University. She recently completed her bachelor’s degrees in biology and psychology from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Katie is hard-of-hearing and is passionate about including people with both visible and invisible disabilities in the sciences. Katie’s research background spans multiple model systems and topics in the psychological and neurosciences, but she is primarily interested in the mechanisms of behavioral deficits in neurodegenerative disease. A Southern California native, she enjoys swimming and volleyball, as well as Mexican food and bookstore hopping. She spends most of her time reading and has recently joined a book club!
