Kate Giffin is a neuroscience graduate student at the University of Michigan in the lab of Dr. Benjamin Singer. She graduated with her AS from Beaufort County Community College in 2018, then transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received a BA in biology in 2020. She stayed at UNC-CH to do a post-baccalaureate program with Dr. Joyce Besheer, then came to the University of Michigan to pursue her PhD in 2021. Kate studies how the immune system impacts the brain in the context of psychiatric illnesses and Alzheimer's disease. She is also a poet, nature enthusiast, musician, and all-around fan of weird animals.
