Karen Tang completed her BA (Hons.) in Psychology degree at the University of Calgary in 2019. Her undergraduate thesis examined the association between video game addiction, emotion dysregulation, and attachment style. She is currently a PhD student and Killam Scholar in the Clinical Psychology program at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. In her graduate research on addictions, Karen is primarily interested in examining co-morbid disorders, specifically behavioral addictions and mental health correlates (e.g., gambling disorder and depression). She is a former DAAD RISE Germany 2017 Research Fellow and Markin USRP Scholar. In her spare time, Karen enjoys painting, volunteering, and traveling. Karen is passionate about mentoring future researchers and scientists. She hopes to continue to inspire and guide others by pursuing a career as a professor in the future. She is excited to join the Project SHORT team and looks forward to mentoring undergraduate students throughout their academic journey.
