Julie is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Genetics program at Stanford. She graduated from UC Berkeley in 2020 with a degree in Microbial Biology and a minor in Data Science. After college, Julie did a 2-year postbaccalaureate fellowship at the NIH Center for Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias where she used computational approaches to study Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. She is particularly interested in population genetics and the application of ‘omic datasets to understand neurological and age-related diseases. Outside of the lab, Julie takes care of her extensive succulent collection and enjoys spending time with friends, hiking, and watching stand-up comedy and true crime.
