Jocelyn Gomez is an incoming post-doctoral fellow in pediatric psychology at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital. She is completing a pediatric psychology internship at Nemours Children’s Health – Delaware and will be receiving her PsyD in Health Service Psychology from University of Houston – Clear Lake. She identifies as a disabled bilingual (Spanish/English), bicultural Mexican American. Clinically, her interest includes providing culturally informed treatment for children, adolescents, and young adults struggling to cope with issues related to complex medical diagnoses and long-term hospitalization. Her research interest includes quality of life within the pediatric medical population and psychosocial factors impacting treatment outcomes. Further, health inequities within the Latine and Black communities. She also has specific interest in working towards diversifying the psychology pipeline by mentoring students/trainees from marginalized communities.
