Jenea is a first-generation college graduate and first-year Ph.D. student in the University of Pennsylvania's program in Genomics and Computational Biology in the Perelman School of Medicine. She studied Biology with a minor in Computer Science at the University of Dayton (OH) and developed a strong curiosity for applying computational approaches to understanding biomedical problems, especially those in neurodegenerative diseases and cancer genetics. She is passionate about dismantling obstacles for underrepresented and first-generation students to excel in science and believes mentorship is one of the strongest tools to do so. Outside of the lab, Jenea is enjoying the outdoors, writing, practicing her violin, or creating/appreciating art in some way.
