Irene is a PhD candidate in Stanford University's Cancer Biology program, where she studies the environment surrounding lung cancer tumors with bioinformatic and imaging approaches. She is an Stanford Graduate Fellow, NSF GRFP recipient, Rhodes finalist, and AACR Bardos Scholar. She has mentored fellow students in crafting successful personal and research statements for grants and fellowships, refining presentations and talks, and navigating the graduate school application and interview processes. She believes deeply in the importance of student activism, visibility, and questioning institutions and entrenched beliefs! Irene is a born and raised Michigander, and graduated from Michigan State University with degrees in Molecular Genetics and Global Public Health. She loves running, sketching, calligraphy, penguins, and meeting new people.
