Born in Berlin, Germany, Hannah is an aquatic ecologist who pursued her B.A. at Reed College in Biology with a concentration in Philosophy to combine her love of science and writing. During her undergraduate research, she investigated whether phytoplankton populations can buffer the impacts of climate change through phenotypic plasticity, specifically via acclimation. After graduating, Hannah stayed at Reed for 2 years as a Research Assistant in order to refine her laboratory and quantitative ecology skills. Hannah is currently a PhD student at the University of Utah working in the Reimer and DYCE lab. Her research interest lies in understanding the impacts of climate change on the Great Salt Lake through field, laboratory, modeling, and remote sensing work
