Gabrielle Shimko is a first-year psychology doctoral student at Indiana University, Bloomington majoring in clinical science and minoring in cognitive developmental neuroscience. Gabrielle’s research program focuses on studying continuous symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and how associated cognitive and motor abilities support learning in academic contexts. Prior to her PhD, Gabrielle attended Kalamazoo College in Michigan and graduated in 2018 with majors in psychology and biology. Outside of academics, Gabrielle loves to cook, play Animal Crossing, hang out with friends, and be near the water (classic Michigander). Through Project SHORT, Gabrielle hopes to empower first generation college students and individuals with ADHD (like herself) to feel as if they have a place (and can succeed!) in graduate school.
