​Franklin is a Venezuelan-born, Puerto Rican PhD candidate in Immunology at The University of Pennsylvania. He obtained his Bachelors of Science studies in Cellular and Molecular Biology in the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. He also did an NIH-PREP program in Case Western Reserve University before joining UPenn for his graduate studies. His thesis work is focuses on understanding the cytoskeletal signaling dynamics that modulate T cell chemotactic responses, as well as characterizing T cell migration in 3D environments. Franklin is a 1st generation college student and graduate student. He aspires to become a scientist in academia and mentor a new generation of scientists. He hopes to not only inspire interest in his fields of work, but to overall advocate for science and research opportunities in his hometown, where these are very scarce.
