Eli is a postdoctoral scientist at Stanford University. Eli grew up in Southern California, and attended UC Irvine for his undergraduate studies in Microbiology and Immunology. He then went to Harvard University for his Ph.D. in molecular microbiology, where he studied the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Following his Ph.D. training, Eli moved back to California to join the Howitt lab at Stanford for his postdoctoral research, where he studies how the microbiome, diet, and immune system intersect to impact health and disease. Aside from research, Eli is a big fan of homebrewing, the outdoors, and tortoises.
