Deepthi is a first-year neuroscience graduate student at UC Berkeley. She received a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering and a Bachelor of Science and Arts in chemistry from UT Austin and a Master of Science in medical sciences from Boston University. Unsure of her next steps, Deepthi took an offer from her thesis mentor, Dr. Paulo Lizano, and worked for 4 years at Beth Israel Leahy Health in Boston uncovering biomarkers of psychotic disorders using retinal and neuroimaging techniques. Now for her PhD, she has shifted her focus and is interested in developing robust and neurobiologically-inspired computational models of the healthy and diseased visual pathway. Outside of lab, Deepthi enjoys hiking, baking, reading, and crafting!
