Claire Niehaus is a fifth-year doctoral student at George Mason University (GMU) studying Clinical Psychology. She received her B.A. in psychology in 2015 from the University of South Carolina. Before coming to GMU, she worked as a research coordinator for a parenting intervention lab at the University of South Carolina. She now works for Dr. Tara Chaplin�s lab at GMU which researches biological, psychological, and family-based predictors of substance use and psychopathology in adolescence. Her research interests include the impact of stress on parenting and parenting in diverse groups, including the neural correlates of parenting in diverse groups. Currently, she is conducting her dissertation study on neural correlates of immigration and discrimination stress in first generation LatinX mothers and effects on parenting.
