A native from Vermont, Chiara is a PhD in Pharmacology candidate at Weill Cornell Graduate School. Chiara previously graduated summa cum laude and received her MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences where her thesis research in Karen Glass' lab focused on structural studies of bromodomains. She is currently working in a lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center studying how regulation of RNA-binding proteins orchestrates fate decisions in normal and malignant hematopoietic stem cells. Chiara’s thesis project in the Michael Kharas lab has the goal of defining regulation of RNA-binding proteins and manipulating these axes to define potential therapeutic strategies for blood cancers. Chiara is a proud first-generation graduate student and scientist from a low income background and identifies as asexual. She is proudly committed to uplifting others fighting against socioeconomic and racial inequalities towards their graduate school goals. In her free time, Chiara enjoys writing poetry, photography, reading, weightlifting, watching sports, advocating for mental health resources, spending time with friends, and spoiling her cat, Bane.
