Cathrine is a second year PhD student in UCSF's Neuroscience Graduate Program, where she studies the pathogenic mechanisms of Alzheimer�s disease. She completed her undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley, earning dual degrees in Molecular Biology and Statistics. While an undergraduate, she commuted to UCSF to work in the Memory and Aging Center, researching the neuropathological changes underlying atypical clinical presentations of Alzheimer�s disease using human postmortem tissue. She is motivated by the potential of her research to facilitate the development of effective therapies for neurodegenerative disease. Cathrine is passionate about science communication and enjoys merging her love of art with science. Outside of the lab, you can find Cathrine painting, reading classic novels, or hiking with her dog, Miko.
