Bharath grew up in India and went to NIT Trichy for undergraduate studies in Chemical Engineering. He enjoys the problem-solving aspect of chemical engineering research and the ability to apply core principles to real-world problems. For his graduate studies, he was in the wonderful city of Philadelphia for 6 years in the lab of Prof. Daeyeon Lee at the University of Pennsylvania. He is an avid reader and enjoys reading fiction. Other things he likes to do in his spare time are watching movies and tv shows and playing badminton. He is interested in polymer physics in nanoscale systems, especially polymer dynamics that influence the properties and performance of nano-engineered materials. Currently, he is working as a postdoc at UC Santa Barbara. He works on mapping the relationships between polymer structure, dynamics in nanopores, and the reaction kinetics in a catalytic depolymerization reaction. The goal of the work is to understand polymer dynamics close to catalytic interfaces to inform the better design of catalysts and upcycling processes.
