Balbir Singh is a 4th year PhD student studying Social Psychology at the University of Colorado Boulder. Along with his mentor, Dr. Joshua Correll, Balbir Singh researches how social categories impact face recognition and decision making. He focuses this investigation on the cross-race deficit, a phenomena where people are better at recognizing same-race faces compared to cross-race faces. Prior to graduate school, Balbir Singh worked for a civil-rights non-profit and tries to use research to better understand, prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination. Balbir Singh is a first-generation immigrant and a practicing Sikh and is excited to increase diversity in academia.
