Amey is a PhD candidate in theoretical high-energy particle physics at the Mani L. Bhaumik Institute for Theoretical Physics, UCLA. Born and raised in Mumbai, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics with a minor in Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. His current research focuses on understanding the physics of strongly coupled systems, particularly exploring mechanisms of confinement in tractable toy models. Amey is passionate about science communication, outreach, and is also interested in science policy, believing in the importance of making scientific research both accessible and impactful beyond the academic community. As a senior graduate student, he understands the challenges of graduate school and is eager to mentor students pursuing advanced studies in STEM. Outside of physics, Amey enjoys running, hiking, and playing squash.
