Deborah Rupert is a 6th year MD-PhD candidate (MS2; GS4) in Stony Brook University’s Medical Scientist Training Program. She received her BA in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience from Carleton College. She has an MS in Human Nutrition and an MA in Biotechnology both from Columbia University. She is completing her Neuroscience graduate school research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Her current research examines cell-type specific contributions to aberrant auditory processing in a mouse model of Rett Syndrome. She is the first scientist, and first future-physician in her family, and is passionate about DEI advocacy in academia and healthcare inequality. She joined Project SHORT in the Fall of 2020.
